Born and raised in San Francisco, Dr. Huie is a second generation Californian. She completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley in Microbiology, followed by an MPH in Epidemiology at UCLA School of Public Health.
Dr. Huie worked as an Epidemiologist (both environmental and infectious disease) in Los Angeles County from 1980-1985. She then returned to her roots in San Francisco to attend medical school at UCSF. This was followed by her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland (now known as UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland)
Dr. Huie has worked in private practice since 1993. She is board certified and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr Huie resides in San Francisco with her husband. Her son, daughter-in-law and their new family member (her granddaughter!) are just an easy drive away in the south bay. Besides perusing the bookstores, Dr. Huie enjoys tweaking recipes, and trying to grow vegetables in the backyard, much to the delight of the local raccoons and snails.
